ASMAC was founded originally in 1998 as a research center, the Advanced Surface and Materials Analysis Centre at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to support materials R&D in industry.  In 1999, ASMAC became ISO 9001 certified.  In 2004, the ASMAC operation was spun off as a high-tech start-up, and ASMAC Limited was formed and owned by the CUHK Foundation Limited.  In 2007, the ownership of ASMAC Limited was changed to the present partnership structure heavily involving the actual operation team.

  ASMAC can now offer Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) service. SAM is an idea technique to study subsurface defects and crack propagation in materials.

ASMAC can provide electropolishing and chemical polishing service for metal finishing and metallurgy preparation purposes, including process development and refining for high quality products.
